Robert C. (Bob) Fisher is President of Belmont University. Prior to his appointment at Belmont in April of 2000, he was vice president for academic affairs at Arkansas State University and had previously served as dean of the school of business at Henderson State University.
Fisher earned his BSBA from Henderson State University, an MBA from the University of Memphis, and a PhD from the University of Arkansas.
He has served the community of Nashville in various roles including chair of the Greater Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, chair of the board of the Pencil Foundation, co-chair of the Mayor’s Task Force on Public Education and as a member of the board for non-profits such as the Nashville Public Education Foundation, Alignment Nashville, Cumberland Region Tomorrow, United Way, Nashville Symphony, Country Music Hall of Fame, and others.
Under Fisher’s leadership Belmont’s enrollment has more than doubled from 2,970 to over 8,400 for the fall of 2019. New undergraduate majors have been added in motion pictures, music therapy, publishing, social entrepreneurship, songwriting, worship leadership and public relations as well as doctoral programs in pharmacy and law. In 2008, Belmont hosted the Town Hall Presidential Debate. In the same year Fisher was named “Tennessean of the Year,” and in 2010, he was named “Nashvillian of the Year.”
In 2008, he and his wife, Judy, co-authored Life is a Gift: Inspiration from the Soon-Departed, a book that shares thoughts on living from 105 people in the Alive Hospice Program. He previously co-authored Real Dream Teams, a book on team leadership. Fisher has also served as a Fulbright Scholar in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
His life mission is to help to create experiences that transform people, especially students, in ways that enable them to become all they were created to be.

Dr. Burns began his current position as Provost at Belmont University on January 1, 2011. Upon appointing Dr. Burns to the position, Belmont President Dr. Bob Fisher said, “The provost position has been one of the key factors in Belmont’s success. I have no doubt that in this role Thomas Burns will continue to create one of the most amazing stories in higher education.”
Dr. Burns graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Chemistry from Dickinson College in 1991 and completed his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Vanderbilt University in 1998. He taught in the chemistry and physics department at Florida Southern College for four years, winning two teaching awards and being named department chair in 1999.
For almost six years Dr. Burns served as the assistant dean for academic affairs for the Yale University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences where, among other things, he oversaw the Fulbright program and participated in the creation, implementation and interpretation of the policies for the graduate school.
From 2006-2010, Dr. Burns served as associate provost for academic administration at Millersville University of Pennsylvania, where in cooperation with the provost he was responsible for the division of academic affairs, including the general education program, the First Year Experience, global education and community and academic partnerships among other duties.
Reporting to the provost are the deans for the University’s nine colleges: Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Sciences and Mathematics, Business, Entertainment and Music Business, Visual and Performing Arts, Health Sciences and Nursing, Law, Pharmacy, and Theology and Christian Ministry. In addition, Dr. Burns oversees the departments that manage Belmont’s adult degree programs, enrollment services, student affairs, interdisciplinary and global studies, honors program, registrar, assessment and institutional research.

Dr. Susan H. West currently serves as Chief of Staff and Vice President in the Office of the President at Belmont University. During her 29 years at Belmont, she has worked in Admissions, Special Academic Programs, and the University College. Dr. West is a member of the Peer Learning Network of Belmont University, Nashville Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, and Women in Higher Education of Tennessee (WHET). She was a member of the 2006 class of Leadership Middle Tennessee and the 2014-15 Leadership Nashville class. Currently she serves on the boards of Habitat for Humanity, St. Thomas Health and the Middle Tennessee State University Friends of the College of Liberal Arts.
In 2006, she was awarded the Outstanding African American Alumni Award at Middle Tennessee State University, in 2007 was an Athena Award nominee and in 2017 was awarded the Minority Access, Inc. Administrator Award for Exemplary Achievements in Expanding Opportunities for Others. Dr. West received her Doctor of Education degree from the George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University and is a graduate the Harvard Institute for Educational Management.

Dr. Paula Gill is the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness at Belmont University. Her portfolio of responsibilities includes leadership for the newly consolidated Library and Information Technology Services (LITS); oversight and ongoing management and implementation of the campus-wide strategic planning process, Vision 2020; continuous improvement of all enrollment strategies and communications; and strategic reorganization of numerous academic and administrative units.
A Belmont alumna, Gill received her Master of Science and Doctor of Education degrees from the University of Alabama with a focus on quality management and higher education administration. Prior to her current position, Dr. Gill served in various roles at Belmont including the Associate Dean of Enrollment, Director of Student Financial Services and Director of Belmont Central.
In 2017, Dr. Gill attended the Harvard Institute for Educational Management and received the Leader of Change award from Network for Change and Continuous Innovation, an organization whose aim is to advance academic and administrative excellence in higher education by identifying, promoting, supporting, and sharing effective organizational practices among the 90 plus member institutions. - Dr. Todd L. Dr. Todd Lake serves as Vice President for Spiritual Development at Belmont University in Nashville. Prior to coming to Belmont, he served as the dean for university life at Baylor University in Texas.
He received his bachelor's degree in German studies magna cum laude from Harvard University and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He studied at Princeton Seminary before earning his master of divinity degree in 1988 from Southern Seminary, along with his wife, Dr. Joy Jordan-Lake. They served as chaplains at Harvard and co-pastors for nine years of an interracial Baptist church in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which was deeply involved in community ministries to the poor, immigrants and prisoners.
Dr. Lake earned his doctorate in systematic theology with a minor in church history from Boston College. He has served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay, a legislative aide in California working on bills to protect migrant farm workers and as a summer missionary in Austria and Los Angeles, his hometown.
He helps Belmont take full advantage of being America’s largest ecumenical Christian university through extensive missions work in Nashville, the U.S., and overseas; a Chapel program co-sponsored by all nine Belmont colleges; a University Ministries team that deploys hundreds of student leaders through over 20 on-campus Christian ministries; and working with faculty and staff to help them integrate Christian resources and practices into their work with students in and out of the classroom.

Mr. Lasley earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee in Accounting in 1979 and his Masters of Business Administration from The University of Georgia in Finance in 1993. He worked as a CPA with the accounting firm Deloitte & Touche from 1987-1991 and 1993-1994. Prior to coming to Belmont University, Mr. Lasley was the Vice President, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for The Christie Cookie Co. in Nashville, Tennessee from 1994-1997. In 1998, Mr. Lasley came to Belmont University as the Vice President of Finance and Operations. In this position, Mr. Lasley provides leadership, vision and service to the functional areas of accounting and budgeting, human resources/payroll, facilities planning/new construction and maintenance/grounds. In addition, Mr. Lasley serves as the financial advisor to the president and Board of Trustees and is the administrative lead for the Investment Committee of the Board.

Dr. Perry Moulds serves as Belmont University’s Vice President for Development and External Relations. In this role, he oversees all philanthropic initiatives for the University, including major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, grants and annual giving. Additionally, he leads Belmont’s alumni relations and strategic initiatives teams. He also provides leadership for marketing and public relations to ensure that all Belmont development and marketing operations are fully integrated with the University’s priorities and are aligned with its strategic objectives. Further, he facilitates the Board of Trust Development Committee and oversees the recruitment and training of volunteer leadership in fundraising visibility efforts.
Dr. Moulds previously served in various fundraising roles for the Vanderbilt University Medical Center and held several development roles over nine years at the University of Mississippi. Moulds holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree and a Master of Arts degree from the Higher Education Administration program at the University of Mississippi, where he also received a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and public relations with a minor in political science.

Jason B. Rogers serves as Vice President for Administration and University Counsel at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. In this capacity, he is responsible for Belmont's legal affairs as well as its government and community relations, risk management, insurance, campus security and Title IX compliance functions. Jason joined Belmont University in 1998 after 10 years of practicing law in Nashville. While in private practice, he advised and represented nonprofit corporations including numerous colleges and universities. Jason has earned academic degrees from Baylor University (B.A., with honors), Vanderbilt University (J.D.) and the University of Pennsylvania (Ed.D. with distinction). While at Vanderbilt, Jason was a member of the National Moot Court team and earned the American Jurisprudence Award for Excellence in First Amendment Law. At the University of Pennsylvania, his research focused on the impact of religious mission on the civic engagement initiatives of urban universities in the northeastern United States.
Dr. Rogers is admitted to practice law in Tennessee (active) and Texas (inactive) as well as before the United States District Courts for the Middle District of Tennessee, Northern District of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He is a fellow in the Nashville Bar Foundation, active in service to the National Association of College and University Attorneys, and a former member of the Legal Advisory Committee of United Educators’ Risk Retention Group.
A 32 year resident of Nashville, Jason is committed to the local community and charitable activities including current and past service on the board of directors of The Sycamore Institute, The Next Door, The Healing Trust, and Nashville Family Shelter as well as service to Leadership Nashville, the Parent Advisory Council of Metro Nashville Public Schools and Nashville’s First Baptist Church.

John Carney serves as Belmont’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications. In this role, he is responsible for leading Belmont’s marketing, branding, PR and communications efforts as well as countless institutional special projects. Carney, who joined Belmont in 2014, is a results-oriented marketing and communications professional, who has developed a proven track record of creating and implementing strategies that deliver successful outcomes. During his time at Belmont to date, he has partnered with colleagues across campus on a variety of initiatives including Admissions, Athletics and college-level marketing programs as well as fundraising efforts like the Tennessee Health Care Hall of Fame and the We Believe campaign. In addition, Carney is responsible for providing direction to significant Belmont special events including the hosting of mayoral and gubernatorial debates, Davis Cup and the 125th Anniversary celebration, as well as the University’s sponsorship of the upcoming Ken Burns’s “Country Music” documentary and the application to host a presidential debate.
Carney came to Belmont following 19 successful years with Nashville’s The Buntin Group, an ADWEEK top 40 U.S. independent advertising agency. While there, he served in increasingly senior roles and departed as executive vice president and managing director of account operations. As Buntin’s EVP, he managed and directed the collective work product of more than 100 individuals and directly managed the portfolio of five clients, including national brands Kirkland’s and Chinet as well as statewide initiatives Healthier Tennessee and the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation. He holds a bachelor’s in marketing and communications from the University of Memphis.
