Belmont has a limited amount of funding available to assist with travel through the Rasmussen Scholarship Fund. Awards are generally $300 - $600 and are awarded on the basis of both need and merit.

Forms are available in the Office of International Education.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship program offers awards of up to $5000 for American undergraduate students at two- and four-year educational institutions to study abroad for up to one academic year. Eligible students must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant at the time of application.

In addition, several programs offer a Gilman Scholarship Bonus of $500 to $1000 for Gilman recipients.

The Fulbright Program, the U.S. government's flagship program in international educational exchange, promotes mutual understanding between people of other countries and America. Fulbright grants are made to U.S. citizens for a variety of educational activities including graduate study, advanced research, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools.

The NSEP address the need to increase the ability of American to communicate and compete globally. NSEP emphasizes countries, languages, and fields of study deemed critical to U.S. national security. The NSEP list includes 85 countries and 45 languages. Scholarship funding is available for studying in areas of the world other than Western Europe,Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Applicants design their own programs and must include formal study of a modern language and the study of an area and culture.

NSEP Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 for an academic year's study abroad. Boren Fellowships provide up to $30,000 for language study and international research.

The 2009-2010 application deadline for the Boren Fellowship is January 29, and the deadline for the Boren Scholarship is February 11.

One of the world's largest sources of funding exclusively for graduate women, the AAUW Educational Foundation supports aspiring scholars around the globe, teachers and activists in local communities, women at critical stages of their careers, and those pursuing professions where women are underrepresented.

The Association of Teachers of Japanese Bridging Project offers scholarships to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan. Funding from private foundations and major U.S. corporations has made it possible for ATJ to award 100 scholarships annually to assist students with the travel and living expenses they will incur while studying abroad in Japan for a semester or an academic year.

The Congress - Bundestag program offers students an exciting opportunity to work and study in Germany for one year.  The program year consists of 2 months of intensive German language instruction (no prior German language skills required!), 4 months of classroom instruction at a German university or vocational school, and a 5-month internship in the participant's career field, all while living with a host family or in a shared-apartment.  It is open to applicants between the ages of 18-24 in all fields, though "target" fields are business, engineering, agriculture, and vocational fields.  The program is funded by the US Congress and German Bundestag through a US State Department grant.

The EDU Undergraduate Scholarship is a flexible scholarship program which offers short-term scholarships for participation in summer study abroad, internships, senior thesis research or summer courses at German universities and long-term scholarships for semester or year study abroad.

The Rotary Foundation's Ambassadorial Scholarships is the world's largest privately funded international scholarships program. More than 900 scholarships were awarded for study in 2005-06.
