Julie Hunt, MSW, LCSW

I'm Julie Hunt & I have been teaching at Belmont in the social work department since the fall of 2000. I am currently teaching Child Welfare and Spiritual Issues and Formation in Social Work. The Spirituality course is one that I had the privilege of creating and developing and now teach each year. It has been an exciting challenge and delight to design methods and assignments that assist students in understanding their own spirituality and the integration of it in their work with clients.

Before teaching I worked with adolescents at STARS, a school-based counseling program focused on Alcohol, Drug, and Violence prevention. I loved the challenge of working with this population. Prior to this I coordinated teen volunteer services at Oasis Center.

I graduated from Belmont in 1994 with a social work degree and then completed my Masters in Social Work at the University of Tennessee. In the spring of 2001 I obtained my LCSW. I am a contract social worker at Children's Hope International, a local international adoption agency, where I do homestudies and follow up reports for adoptive families.

I am married to Dave Hunt, who is the worship pastor at Rolling Hills Community Church. I spend the majority of my time these days chasing my son, Asher and my daughter, Lainey. When there is time for hobbies, I enjoy antiquing, baking, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

College was a wonderfully significant time in my own life and I consider it a great honor to invest in the lives of students here at Belmont through the Social Work Department.
