Belmont Commons
Fact Sheet & Apartment Layout (pdf)
Overview:
The Belmont Commons is a 30 townhouse complex housing 4 students per house. The 120 residents of the Commons experience life as it will be off campus while still living under the auspices and direction of the Residence Life guidelines and staff. This off campus feel comes from the design of the apartments which each contain four private bedrooms, two and a half baths, a common living room, and a full kitchen. The Commons also has a unique feel because of its location three blocks off the main campus on Belmont Boulevard.
The central courtyard design of the complex also allows the residents to connect with one another while maintaining autonomy in their respective households. The Commons clubhouse is a place to build community, have educational programming, and host resident’s band rehearsals. It also houses free laundry services with six washers and six dryers for use by Commons residents only.
Parking in the Commons is never a problem with two gated parking lots on the east and west ends of the complex and a full parking lot across Delmar Ave. that has convenient access to the Commons pedestrian gate.
Apartments:
There are two different apartment designs in the Commons. One design has two bedrooms downstairs joined by a bathroom while two bedrooms are upstairs. The second design has all four bedrooms upstairs with each pair joined by a shared bathroom. Each living room space comes furnished with a couch, a chair, a coffee table, an end table, and an entertainment unit for televisions. The kitchen comes with a table and chairs, dishwasher, stove/oven, and refrigerator. Each bedroom comes furnished with an extra long twin bed, chest of drawers, desk, and chair.
Staff:
The housing staff in the Commons is made up of one Residence Director (full-time emplouee available for resident concerns) and five Resident Assistants (for programming, on call, and student needs). The desk in the clubhouse is open for students from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. with Resident Assistants or Desk Assistants. These individuals are trained to answer questions and troubleshoot common problems.
