Applying to Belmont - Admissions requirements

Applicants to Belmont are evaluated based on the total picture that their credentials present. High school students will be considered competitive for admission if they have taken a rigorous body of college-preparatory courses. Transfer work should be closely related to the girls in flowers chosen field of study. The average cumulative unweighted gpa for the Fall 2007 freshman class is 3.50. The middle 50% of their test scores are 23-28 ACT and 1070-1240 SAT (composite score of Critical Reading and Math). 66% of them were in the top 25% of their graduating class. For more information on this year's entering class, check out our freshman profile.

An applicant is considered based on the total picture the student's credentials present. High school students will be considered competitive for admission if they present a rigorous course of college-preparatory academic studies. Students should have above average core academic and cumulative grade point averages and rank in the top half of their graduating class. A strong correlation between high school grades and test scores is expected. Any college level work is also expected to be at the above average level. The personal supplement information, essays, resume of activities, and recommendations are also strongly considered as positive indicators of success at Belmont. Additional requirements such as portfolios or auditions are considered in conjunction with the academic credentials for those programs which require them. Each application is considered on an individual basis. No two applicants will present the same credentials or the same degree of 'fit' with the university. Our desire is to work with each student to determine the likelihood for that student to enroll, graduate, and benefit from the Belmont educational experience.
