Ruth Ford, EdD, MSBS, OTR/L is the Associate Dean and Program Director of the Doctorate in Occupational Therapy program at Belmont University. Her primary responsibilities include overseeing the Master of Science and Doctoral degree programs for administration, accreditation, budgeting, development, and teaching. She has over thirty one years of clinical experience in adult and geriatric rehabilitation, administration, corporate consultant, and faculty appointments in higher education. Leadership and executive responsibilities have included Corporate Director of Therapy Services in long term care and past appointments to the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers Licensure Board, Board of Trustee for Hancock County Society for the Dr. Ruth FordHandicapped, and Rotary International. Dr. Ford was previously Board Certified in Geriatrics through the American Occupational Therapy Association (2000-2007) and a certified hand therapist through the American Society for Hand Therapists (1991-2001).

Associate professor Ford supervises graduate OT students’ research projects on aging issues. In addition, she teaches kinesiology and the human development OT graduate classes. Publications have included topics on older adult worker issues as well as clinical manuals.

Ruth maintains licensure as an occupational therapist in Tennessee and Ohio. Ruth is a member of the Franklin at Breakfast Rotary Club in Franklin, Tennessee and a Paul Harris Fellow. She serves as a board member of the Nashville area Arthritis Foundation. Community involvement has included Homeplace, a group home sponsored by Belmont Methodist Church and Belmont University.
