Trumpet Auditions
Undergraduate Auditions
Students interested in pursuing undergraduate trumpet studies at Belmont University must audition for acceptance into the music program. Auditions are arranged by prospective students as part of their application for admission to Belmont. ( Click here for information on Admission/Audition information in the School of Music.) Although live auditions are preferred, audio or video taped auditions are acceptable if travel distance is prohibitive. Undergraduate auditions typically consist of two contrasting solos/etudes from the standard trumpet repertory and a short selection of sight-reading. An accompanist is not needed for auditions.
Students interested in scholarship consideration should audition on one of the designated dates for scholarship consideration. Undergraduate students are encouraged to contact the university's Office of Admissions [(615) 460-6785] for information on additional non-music and academic scholarships.
Graduate Auditions
Graduate level students interested in pursuing the master of music at Belmont University are eligible for graduate teaching assistantships that are applied toward to cost of tuition. The trumpet studio graduate assistant typically assists with brass seminar and performs with university ensembles and as second trumpet with the Belmont Brass Quintet. Graduate trumpeters also may opt for assistantships in other areas such as jazz, theory, music history, etc.
Specific information about graduate assistantships (stipend amounts, academic requirements, etc.) should be directed to Dr. Robert Gregg , Director of Graduate Studies for the School of Music.

Graduate auditions typically consist of three or four contrasting solos and a set of orchestral excerpts that exhibit a variety of styles (baroque, classical, 19th-century, modern, etc.). An accompanist is not needed for auditions.
Students interested in assistantship or scholarship consideration should apply to Belmont and audition on one of the designated dates for scholarship consideration as early in the academic year as possible for optimum consideration.
