Comprised of diverse and talented players from throughout the United States, the Belmont trumpet studio atmosphere successfully integrates high-quality performance within a positive learning environment, producing independent and well-rounded musicians. In addition to the study and performance of solos and orchestral excerpts, students most often work from etude books by Andre, Arban, Bitsch, Bordogni, Bousquet, Brandt, Cafferelli, Charlier, Longinotti, Maire, Reynolds, Smith and Tomasi. Undergraduate trumpet students typically pursue a Bachelor of Music degree in performance or music education, but Bachelor of Music degrees are also available in church music, composition, musical theater, and music theory. Graduate trumpet students typically pursue a Master of Music degree in performance or pedagogy, but Master of Music degrees are also available in music education, church music, and composition. There are numerous performance opportunities for trumpet students within Belmont's School of Music, including performing with the University Brass Choir, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Belmont Jazz Ensemble, and Athletic Pep Bands . There are also many smaller groups in which to perform, including brass quintets, trumpet ensembles, and instrumentally varied jazz combos.

Students are given the opportunity to perform solo and chamber music in brass seminar, a forum that brings all of Belmont's brass majors together and fosters preparation for recitals and other performance situations. Brass seminar students also rehearse weekly as a brass choir and present a recital at the end of each semester. In addition to weekly instruction and frequent performances by Belmont faculty, students also attend concerts and master classes given by guest artists on Belmont's beautiful Nashville campus.

Besides the many on campus performances, trumpet students may enjoy many off-campus performance opportunities based on their talent and interest. Freelancing activities for trumpeters are readily available throughout the Nashville area. In addition to performing at numerous church-related events, students are often invited to be regular members of musical groups and events in the area, or are often called upon to substitute for a regular player in these groups.
