Undergraduate Flute Auditions
Students interested in pursuing undergraduate flute studies at
Belmont University must audition for acceptance into the music
program. Auditions are arranged by prospective students as part of
their application for admission to Belmont. Although live auditions
are preferred, audio or video taped auditions are acceptable if
travel distance is prohibitive. Undergraduate auditions typically
consist of two contrasting solos/etudes from the standard flute
repertoire, scales, and a short selection of sight-reading. An
accompanist is not needed for auditions. (

Graduate Flute Auditions
Graduate level students interested in pursuing the master of music at Belmont University are eligible for graduate teaching assistantships that are applied toward the cost of tuition. Graduate flutists may opt for assistantships in other areas such as jazz, theory, music history, etc.
Specific information about graduate assistantships (stipend amounts, academic requirements, etc.) should be directed to Dr. Robert Gregg, Director of Graduate Studies for the School of Music.
Graduate auditions are arranged by prospective students as part of their application for admission to Belmont. Although live auditions are preferred, audio or video taped auditions are acceptable if travel distance is prohibitive. Graduate auditions typically consist of three or four contrasting solos and a set of orchestral excerpts that exhibit a variety of styles (baroque, classical, 19th-century, modern, etc.). An accompanist is not needed for auditions.
Students interested in assistantship or scholarship consideration should apply to Belmont and audition on one of the designated dates for scholarship consideration as early in the academic year as possible for optimum consideration.
