I really enjoyed my time at Belmont University. After graduating from high school, I had several different choices in school, some offering full scholarships and the chance to stay closer to home in South Carolina. I had a lot to think about and it was a big decision, but choosing Belmont seemed like an obvious choice. As a musician who wanted to pursue a career in the country music industry, Belmont's location was perfect. Nashville is right where I need to be. I was able to get a strong academic education with Music Row at my fingertips.
My professors, particularly in the School of Music, were such a major help in the start of my career. Not only educating me in a class setting, they were able to introduce and encourage interaction with some of the top professionals in the music industry through their personal relationships and interning possibilities.
As a Commercial Music student with a voice principle, Belmont helped me expand my repertoire, and focus on my personal style and technique through private lessons, vocal seminars, and showcase opportunities. The Commercial Music Showcase was probably one of the biggest highlights for me. It's always a thrill to perform in such a nice auditorium like the Massey Performing Arts Center, and get the opportunity to showcase your music in front of your peers and the industry. Plus, with a Music Business emphasis, I've not only learned how to strengthen my talents, but also how to stay safe in the actual business.
[Having graduated in May 2003], I'm thrilled that I decided to attend Belmont University. Belmont was clearly the right choice for me.
