Ted D. Wylie


Ted D. Wylie Dr. Wylie is a Professor of Music and Coordinator of International Studies in Music at the Belmont School of Music. He teaches studio voice, vocal diction and music literature. He received his Doctor of Music, and Master of Music from Indiana University and his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma Baptist University. At Indiana University he was a student of Eileen Farrell and Paul Matthen. For the past 15 years he has been a student of Carol Smith-Zaufarlin in Zurich.

Dr. Wylie's coordination of The International Studies program has resulted in study opportunities at the Russian Academy of Music in Moscow, the Hochscule fur Musik in Dresden, Germany, the Conservatory of Angers, France and the Fiesole Conservatory in Florence, Italy. Prior to his position at Belmont, Dr. Wylie taught at the New Orleans Baptist Seminary and at Indiana University-Kokomo. He has also served as minister of music at Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church, Virginia.

Dr. Wylie has performed with the Indianapolis Opera, the New Orleans Opera, and the Gulf Coast Opera. Locally, Dr. Wylie has performed with the Nashville Symphony, the Nashville Opera and Tennessee Opera Theatre. Productions to his credit include roles in Amahl and the Night Visitors, La Boheme, Turandot, Regina, and the world premiere of Father Marcelli.
