Jill Kares

Jill Kares joined the Belmont University faculty in the spring of 2007.  She received her B.A. in Music Education from St. Olaf College, a professional performance degree in Musical Theatre from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and her M.M. in Music Technology from New York University.

As a working recording engineer, producer and publisher, Ms. Kares runs a recording business called Sharkbait Studios in Nashville, which specializes in live audio and video recording, studio recordings and private music lessons.  She is an active member with the Audio Engineering Society (AES), the Nashville Film Circle (NFC), Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), and The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

An artist in her own right, Ms. Kares finished her debut album, “Eyelash Wishes” in 2005, has been the lead singer of various rock, funk, 80s, R&B, and jazz bands, and was in many different musical theatre/theatre performances in New York, Nashville, Minnesota and Colorado.  Favorites roles include playing Dolly in Hello, Dolly! and Desire’ in A Little Night Music.

Ms. Kares teaches commercial voice lessons for Belmont University.  She also teaches audio recording classes at The Arts Institute-Nashville and serves on the advisory board at SAE-Nashville (School of Audio Engineering).
