Brent Gerlach

Dr. Brent Gerlach is an Adjunct Instructor of Music at the Belmont University School of Music. He currently teaches theory and applied trombone classes.
Dr. Gerlach received his Doctor of Musical Arts (Major in Trombone Performance and cognate in music theory) from the University of Cincinnati College - Conservatory of Music (CCM), Cincinnati, OH. He also received his Master of Music (Major in Trombone Performance) from CCM and his Bachelor of Music from the University of Kentucky (UK), Lexington, KY. Dr. Gerlach's main trombone instructors have been Mr. Tony Chipurn, Mr. Dale E. Warren and Mr. David Henderson. Dr. Gerlach's teaching background includes positions at Middle Tennessee State University; Austin Peay State University; and Umpqua Community College, Roseburg, Oregon. With a diverse background in ensemble directing (i.e. jazz bands, youth string ensembles, brass ensembles and chamber music ensembles), Dr. Gerlach provides his students with experiential knowledge as well as theoretical understanding of musicianship and performance.
Dr. Gerlach's professional performance and/or recording credits include CCM Philharmonia with Dmitri Ashkenhazy, Gettysburg (Turner Entertainment), Saxercise (Seabreeze Night-life Jazz), and International Brassfest (Bloomington, IN). He is a member of the International Trombone Association and current AFM local 257.
