Susan Brown


Susan BrownMrs. Brown received two degrees in Piano Performance - a Master of Music from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor of Music from lma College, Alma, Michigan. She received a graduate assistantship in coaching Musical Theatre and Opera from Western Michigan University along with academic and service scholarships.

She has over twenty years of performing experience in both the Theatre and Concert arenas in excess of 75 musical productions and many recitals at Belmont University, Vanderbilt University, Indiana University, and community productions in Tennessee and Michigan.

She has taught and performed at various summer music camps including Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and Bay View Summer Conservatory of Music. Mrs. Susan Brown has been an Adjunct Piano Instructor for the past 13 years at Belmont University. She teaches piano proficiency courses and elective piano students. In addition, she plays for the Oratorio Chorus and is Co-Musical Director and rehearsal/performance pianist for all opera productions.

Mrs. Brown is an accompanist for student and faculty recitals, the Accompanist Coordinator for all audition days, has taught English and Italian diction for singers, and Accompanying class for Piano Pedagogy majors.

She stays active in professional musical theatre in the area with her latest shows at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre: "Glad Tidings III:  Regifted" and "Johnny Guitar" in 2006.  In 2007, she will be performing in Columbia State University's production of "Nunsense" in Franklin, TN and Belmont's Opera Scenes program.

Mrs. Brown was awarded a scholarship to attend SongFest 2007 in Malibu, CA. where she studied closely with Martin Katz, Graham Johnson, Ricky Ian Gordon, Jake Heggie, and John Harbison.
