David Herrera, M.B.A.
Originally hailing from New Mexico, I studied music education for
4 years before setting out for Los Angeles with goals of becoming a
commercial trumpet player. Through this process I had the
opportunity to work with high school and college bands as music and
marching clinician for several international companies. Arriving in
Los Angeles, I studied and performed trumpet professionally for 5
years. I have also served as band leader at both Disneyland and
Disney World. Eventually, I set out from LA as a cruise ship
musician, where I saw the world for 6 additional years.
Deciding on a change to the business side of the industry, I
continued my studies graduating with both a B.B.A. and M.B.A. in
business. Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. in Business Management
and Organization. Along this path I have also found the time to
work professionally for an artist management company, a music
publishing company, and as a concert promoter. I currently serve as
the General Manager for Acklen Records, which is our student run
record label. I also serve as instructor for Survey of Music
Business and Record Company Operations.
