Michael Harrington, D.A.
Throughout my career I have had many interesting
opportunities and experiences in the music business. I have taught
training sessions for students and faculty at Harvard Law School
and have lectured on music copyright infringement and litigation at
Suffolk University Law School and the University of Massachusetts,
Lowell.
I have worked as an expert witness and consultant in music
copyright infringement involving the Dixie Chicks, Lauryn Hill and
the Fugees, Collin Raye, Beastie Boys, Bon Jovi, 2 Live Crew, LeAnn
Rimes, Mary J. Blige, Brooks & Dunn, the Ford Motor
Company, Miller Brewing Company, Publix Supermarkets, Orville
Redenbacker, and others. I have been interviewed by print, radio,
television, and internet sources including The New York Times, CNN,
the Associated Press, National Public Radio, The Baltimore Sun, The
Los Angeles Times, Life Magazine, Billboard Magazine, and BRAVO.
At Belmont, I teach Intellectual Property Law and have created and
taught courses such as, Music Copyright Infringement from Bach to
the Beastie Boys, The Beatles, The History of Rock Music, The Music
of Motown, African American Music, and The Music of the 1970s. In
my free time, I am an avid bicyclist and have bicycled across the
United States on three occasions, most recently 3,300 miles from
Florence, Oregon to Nashville.
