Background Checks for New Employees
Belmont University strives to provide the safest possible environment for students, visitors, faculty, staff and physical resources. To provide a safe environment and to protect the university's assets, including the assets of its employees, its property and information, as well as to assist departments in hiring decisions, the university will conduct criminal background checks on candidates recommended for specified positions. Background checks may include but are not limited to: confirmation of the individual's identity; credit information; review of an individual's criminal conviction record, if any; and verification of any license, certificate or degree required for the position. The Office of University Counsel shall designate the staff and faculty positions that will require background checks.Background Checks for Staff Positions - As part of the pre-employment process, selected finalists for a position will be asked to complete an online background check authorization form. The hiring manager will contact the Office of Human Resources and an email will be sent to the candidate with instructions and a link to the online form.
