How does The Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business differ from other programs offered at various colleges?

The Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business (CEMB) is the only college in the world specializing in entertainment and music business. The CEMB combines academic excellence and true life experience which prepares students for career opportunities in the industry by instilling in them concepts such as leadership, innovation, global competition, private enterprise and entrepreneurship.

What degrees can I obtain through the College of Entertainment and Music Business?

Students may choose to obtain one of the three following degrees within the CEMB:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Music Business and an emphasis in either Business or Production.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Audio Engineering Technology
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Industry Studies

What general education requirements and major requirements are needed in order to obtain one of the three degrees offered?

Can you minor in Music Business?

Do you have to audition or play an instrument to be part of the College of Entertainment and Music Business?

No.  The majors offered in the CEMB do not handle the performance aspects of the industry.   While you can take a minimum of music classes that can be counted toward your degree, these classes are not required.

Does the College of Entertainment and Music Business provide internship opportunities? 

Definitely.  At the Junior and Senior levels, a student may participate in one of the CEMB’s over 400 excellent internship opportunities . 

Why are internships so important?

Internships are a student’s primary resource for employment upon graduation.  Internship opportunities are intended to further expand a student’s knowledge of the entertainment and music industry.  Internships are available for students in Nashville as well as off-campus opportunities in Los Angeles, New York, Melbourne, Australia and London, England.  

Does the CEMB accept credits from community colleges or other universities?

All non-remedial credits are transferable, as long as they were taken at a regionally accredited university or community college.  A course taken at a community college that is 3000 level or higher at Belmont University will not transfer in as that particular course.   Instead it will transfer in as a free elective.   If a “D” is made in a course that you are transferring in, then the course will only count as a free elective as well.   Please note that all credits transferred to Belmont may not specifically apply toward your graduation requirements given your program of study at Belmont.
