University College Vision: Through the University College, Belmont University addresses the learning needs of adult, non-traditional students. Because traditional four-year degree programs cannot accommodate the educational needs of many adults, the University College provides opportunities to pursue education based on individualized goals and flexible time schedules through degree-granting programs, continuing education experiences, and professional development programs. University College has two divisions: the Office of Adult Degree Programs and the Office of Continuing Studies. Office of Adult Degree Programs The Office of Adult Degree Programs provides interdisciplinary, university-wide support that enables adult students to complete their degrees through programs which feature flexible time schedules and innovative course offerings. This office currently makes available three degree programs: the Professional Bachelor of Business Administration, the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies, and the RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Office of Continuing Studies The mission of the Office of Continuing Studies is to extend the resources of the university to the community in order to provide continuing professional and personal development and outreach services. Courses are available on a credit, non-credit, or continuing education unit (CEU) basis for supplementing and updating learners’ knowledge, skills, and abilities. This office works with individuals, businesses, and other organizations to build educational partnerships and to offer specialized courses and training programs. Admission Degree Seeking Students – Students who wish to pursue one of the degree programs offered through the University College must follow the admissions process found in this bulletin beginning on page 19. Applications are available from the Admissions Office, Belmont Central, or the Office of Adult Degree Programs. Non-Degree Seeking Students – Persons who wish to take courses through the University College, but are not pursuing a degree, may apply as a “Non-Degree Seeking Student.”
