Entering Belmont University | Guidelines for Official Documents

Guidelines for Official Documents

College

Official: "An official transcript is one that has been received directly from the issuing institution. It must bear the college seal, date and appropriate signature. Transcripts received that do not meet these requirements should not be considered official and should be routinely rejected for any permanent use."

Unofficial: Even with a seal, any transcript brought in or mailed in by the student (often a student copy) is considered unofficial.

High School

A high school transcript is official if it is mailed directly from the high school to Belmont’s Office of Admissions or if it is brought to the office in a sealed envelope. A seal, stamp or signature must be on the back flap of the envelope.

GED

Scores must come directly from the testing center and must have an official seal or signature; or they may be submitted in a sealed envelope as above.

ACT/SAT/TOEFL

ACT or SAT scores must be on an official transcript or submitted by ACT, SAT, or TOEFL record centers.

Transient Student Permission Form

The Transient Student Permission Form must be complete and sent from the student’s current school, and must follow the same guidelines of officiality as college transcripts described above.
