Wade Chumney
Attorney Chumney holds a B.A. in Political Science from Davidson College, N.C., an M.S. in Information Systems from Dakota State University, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in Charlottesville, Virginia.

He obtained business experience as a computer consultant for Utility Lines, Inc. and worked his way up in the legal field, beginning as a paralegal with Swidler Berlin Shereff Friedman L.L.P. in Washington, D.C. After receiving his J.D., he worked for five years in private practice with his practice areas including: Intellectual Property, Business Litigation, Construction Law, Insurance Defense, and General Civil Litigation.

Professor Chumney's teaching experience includes international service as a visiting lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiener Neustadt, Austria. As a graduate student, he developed a course covering the legal and ethical aspects of managing technology. While practicing law full-time, he taught courses as an adjunct faculty member at the College of Charleston, Charleston Southern University, and Southern Wesleyan University. He taught full-time at Charleston Southern University for 2 1/2 years before joining the Belmont faculty.

His research agenda includes the areas of cyber law, e-commerce, intellectual property rights, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) project implementation.
